I like to Read

My new job has be driving quite a bit since the counties I work in are about an hour or so to the south down I-75. This leads to much time spent in my car listening to either the radio or cds, both of which I am becoming tired. Today I decided that maybe I should look into books on tape and therefore make my trips more productive. I have never really listened to a book on tape, at least, not that I can remember. I'm not sure if I'll like them. Part of me is a book purist and think that books should only be read. But then again, maybe listening to a book on tape would be like in elementary school when my teachers would read outloud to us. However, I was always the kid who would check out whatever book the teacher was reading the class and finish it on my own because I didn't want to wait for the ending since they would read to us at what I thought was an excruciatingly slow one-chapter-a-day pace. It's a good thing I out grew being such a nerd.

You must of blocked for your memory the books-on-tape Stacey use to get from the librey for trips to the Falls...lucky you =>
Unfortunatly for me it all flashed back the 1st time my nerdy husband poped one in while road tripping! Books-on-tape is like bleeding from the ear!

Try Audible.com. I've downloaded/streamed a couple of books from Audible recently. I like having a book to listen to while working when I'm alone. I work best with noise. You can find some inexpensive books on there, but not all are. I've even listed to a couple of my book club books!

I forgot to mention that I think you can download to an IPOD or CD with Audible. I've only used it on my computers.

I got pissed off too at my teachers for reading slow. I want to pick your brain about something related to our beautiful Texas experience but I can't find your email. Email me at mbw2119@columbia.edu will ya please?

You can also download audiobooks at many libraries, sometimes for free!

I'm with Golda. I don't even like to list en to the radio in the car. But I have to because papa always has something on. Lots of dumb sport stuff. Supposition over and over. I prefer to read books in the car.

Ooohhhh. I didn't know that Libraries might let you download books for free! I'll have to look into that! We've listened to books in the car on the way to Michigan.

It was either books on tape or duct tape. I thought the duct tape was a much better idea.
