I've been on a cooking kick the past couple of weeks. I think it's mainly because I've been really bored since I'm only taking one credit this session and I have a lot of free time. I've been trying out a lot of new recipes and so far, I think I've liked most. My favorite as of now is probably the spicy peanut noodles I made last week. Jeremy's has been, hands down, the salmon clubs. He told me I can make them whenever I want.

Yesterday I made swordfish because Fresh Market was having a huge sale on it. To go along with it I made a beet and feta cheese salad and roasted red potatoes. The beets, also from Fresh Market, came with great beet leaves that you normally don't see in grocery stores so today I had to make beet leaf halubtsi. It turned out pretty well for my first time. We took it, along with the leftover beets and potatoes, on our picnic this evening. Not exactly normal picnic food, but it was good.

The best thing about cooking all the time is having leftovers for lunch the next day. I don't always like to make my lunch for work, probably because it ends up being the same food all the time, so I like having food in the fridge I can just throw in a container and heat up later.

Wedding Pictures

Hello to everyone from the newlyweds! We had a great trip to Portland, Oregon where we got to relax and have fun, and see the greate northwest. We stayed at Mcmenamin's Edgefield, where we got to try various beers and wines they make on site, as well as play at the par-3 golf course (we are not golfers). We also took a trip out to the coast one day, where it was cold and windy and rainy (go figure), and a short drive up to Mt St Helens (where it was even colder, windier, and snowy). We also got to see the Portland Zoo, the Art Museum, Powell's City of Books, and ate a LOT of really good food.

Things are finally staring to settle down now, the house is slowly getting back in order from the many gifts we had to find places for. We finally got our wedding pictures back the other day, and I've gone through and upload the good ones to here. Use the username "wedding" and the password "photos" to get access to them. Sorry for the password, but I had to keep google from stealing the pictures.

My birthday was yesterday, so we had a little party with a few friends over. I swear we had more food after everyone left than we started with... I dont know how that works. Golda has started the masters program in Socal Work at UT now, so other than classes, not much else to report.

Now that I'm back in school, I've remembered how much I like to listen to music while I write papers or procrastinate doing schoolwork. However, I have a new computer and while I could copy my music from my old computer over to this one or listen to my ipod or CDs, I have instead decided to rediscover my love for downloading music. Except this time I'm perfectly legal. I recently remembered that UT students can use Ruckus for free and I have fully taken advantage of this deal. For the past two and a half years I haven't downloaded any music, which makes it hard to discover new artists I like. I certainly do not want to buy a whole CD if I don't know if I like it, plus BMG doesn't carry a lot of artists I want. Also, I by no means want me pay to download songs on itunes because, well, that costs money and I'm cheap. I would greatly appreciate musical suggestions from people. What do I need to hear?

The Fourth of July has always been one of my favorite holidays. I'm not exactly sure why, maybe because I always had such a good time with my friends in Michigan on the Fourth. Every year I'm not in Michigan for the Fourth just seems strange. No never-ending-parade in Gladstone to go to, no fireworks in Ludington park, no Norm's Fries. It's just odd. This year's Fourth turned out to be decent, probably won't break into my top 5 list, but it was alright. We ended up hanging out with some of Meredith's friends from her speech path program. They had a pool party at one girl's apartment complex and it was pretty fun. We just swam and chilled by the pool all day, drinking and eating. The pool has a really good view of the firework display in Knoxville so we watched from there also. Somehow I managed not to get sunburned, a pretty good feat for me.

It's weird to think it's July already. Time is just flying by. Probably because I'm now in school again and have a lot to do once again. This coming session I'm only taking one credit hour - a neuroscience seminar. Even though I had to take neuroscience in undergrad, I can't get out of this seminar. Oh well, it actually sounds pretty interesting since it's geared towards implications for social work and my class was just a general intro to neuroscience course.
