I just love the Olympics. I'm not sure why, I just do. Maybe because it's the only time I really get a chance to watch events like platform diving and rhythmic gymnastics. The winter Olympics are great too because, well, curling is an Olympic sport and who DOESN'T like watching curling? I guess it's just nice to watch sports that aren't football or basketball.

Another reason to love the Olympics: last night we went to watch my friend's husband's band play at a bar downtown. When else but during the Olympics will you see a bunch of guys around the TV at a bar excited about a swimming race? They were going nuts. It cracked me up.

I'm pleasantly surprised at how many of the top men's tennis players are playing in Beijing. Usually most snub the Olympics. I just hope, like I usually do, that Federer doesn't win.

I still haven't watched the Olympics much. I do like to watch them, but I've just been to busy with school and studying every night for the final I have today! After today I get one week off before chaos insues...

Did you know that at the 1900 summer Olympic games the gold winner in Golf didn't even know that she was competing in the Olypmics? She was and art student from Chicago named Margaret Abbot. She died in 1955 not even knowing. Also, the 2nd olympic games were held at the world fair and went from May all the way till the end of October. Most of the winners did not receive medals but instead got trophies or cups. ya. random facts for you. :)
