Birthday Weekend

Last year I wrote about how when I was a kid I would always wish for it to snow on my birthday. I seriously take it all back. It snowed again this year on my birthday. But unlike last year in Tennessee when we just got a dusting, we got about a foot this year in Maine. Luckily I only had one client on Friday and my session was in the morning. The snow started about 10am and continued all day and into the night. It wasn't much fun to drive in.

All week I had been looking forward to going up to Bangor for my annual birthday sushi. This was to be the third year in a row I chose sushi for my birthday meal. I can't help it, I love sushi. Because of the weather, there was no way we could drive to Bangor for dinner. I was bummed, but then we remembered that there is a sushi place in our town - at the Thai restaurant. That became the new plan for dinner.

Because we weren't able to drive to Bangor, we were able to check out the beer tasting event at Global Beverage Warehouse here in town. It was the first time we've been to one here and it was fun. We tried five different beers, some better than others. Also, we found out that they do this every month! We are definitely going back for another one. It's a good way to try beers we wouldn't normally buy.

After the beer tasting (and a brief shopping trip to Wal-Mart) we headed to dinner. The sushi ended up being pretty decent, and much cheaper than all the sushi restaurants in Knoxville, always a plus. They also gave me free birthday ice cream! After dinner we were too full for cake so decided to put that off until Saturday. We went home and watched Inglorious Basterds. I'm proud to say that the movie was about 2.5 hours long and I didn't even fall asleep!

Saturday, after digging out our cars, I tried to buy a pair of Keen's for my birthday, but no where is carrying them yet. I figured that would probably happen. I pretty much just hung out at home all day. I like lazy Saturdays. Jeremy made my cake Saturday evening and we ate it then.

Sunday we hosted fellowship time at church, meaning we were in charge of bringing in food. I planned this so that we could bring the rest of my cake in since we can never eat an entire cake, just the two of us. After church I did a bunch of nothing at home while Jeremy worked some. Then we over to Cherryfield for the weekly "Down East Table of Plenty" community meal. We go to it usually about twice a month. It's a lot of fun. This week they group putting it on did a breakfast for dinner meal. Gotta love brinner. It was pretty tasty, especially the wild blueberry juice!

Overall the birthday weekend was fun and relaxing, just the way I like it. Not to excited to start another work week. Why do the weekends go by so quickly?

I agree, beer tasting are a lot of fun. With all the micro breweries popping up in the Minneapolis area there is always a beer tasting going on somewhere close. It's amazing the different tastes of beer you find.
